Cody Haddon used his post-fight victory speech at UFC Macau to send a message to his bosses over his salary.
The Australian bantamweight scored an emphatic victory against local veteran Aoriqileng on the Saturday UFC Fight Night card at Galaxy Arena.
Haddon dominated his Chinese opponent, finishing him with a nasty knee to the liver in the second round.
The win marked the 27-year-old’s second in Dana White’s promotion, having emerged through the Contender Series in August 2024.
It was also a huge statement from the 9-1 prospect, who will certainly be looking to break into the UFC bantamweight rankings down the line.
Usually, fighters use their moment on the mic after a win to call out whoever they want next.
But Haddon had other things on his mind when speaking to UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping.
Haddon pleads for $100K bonus
“I’m super broke. I have no money,” Haddon exclaimed.
“Please! I deserve a bonus. I just came into enemy territory and put on a show like that.
“You know when you book me to fight, I’m coming in to kill or be killed.
“Please, let me be compensated. Thank you.”
Following the UFC’s new broadcast deal with Paramount+, bonuses are $100,000 each for Fight of the Night and Performance of the Night.
Although not known, it’s likely Haddon is on a contract somewhere in the region of $10,000 per fight, with the same payout if he wins.
A hot topic
Over the years, fighter pay has been one of the biggest talking points surrounding the UFC.
UFC CEO White previously claimed fighter pay would increase in 2026, but several have since said otherwise.
Justin Gaethje, one of the promotion’s biggest stars, said nothing had changed in his contract ahead of his win over Paddy Pimblett in January.
“I’m not getting one dollar more than I would have if this [Paramount] deal did not happen,” Gaethje said.
In 2025, the UFC agreed to payout $375million in an antitrust lawsuit settlement to former fighters who represented the promotion between 2010 and 2017.
The lawsuit claimed roughly 1,100 athletes were affected and claimed UFC’s contracts at the time restricted them from negotiating with other promotions.
Only time will tell if Haddon’s wish is granted.
