MLS side Sporting Kansas City are interested in a shock move to sign Mohamed Salah this summer, talkSPORT understands.
Salah is now a free agent after leaving Liverpool, where he spent nine trophy-laden years and became a Premier League legend.
As talkSPORT previously reported, the 34-year-old is one of 50 peak-age foreign signings being eyed by Saudi Pro League dealmakers.
It’s also understood that a move to MLS is an option for Salah, with Kansas City among the potential suitors.
However, talkSPORT understands thats a move to North America is considered a long shot.
Salah has already been linked with a club in Saudi Arabia as Al Ittihad made an offer worth a stunning £215million in September 2023.
Liverpool kept hold of their star man for another three seasons, but the winger is now set for a new chapter.
It is currently unknown as to when Salah will make a decision on his next club.
Salah reached the World Cup last-16 with Egypt this summer and was part of the controversial 3-2 defeat to holders Argentina on Tuesday.
How will Liverpool replace Salah?
With 257 goals and 123 assists in 442 appearances, Salah may never be fully replaced by Liverpool.
He will go down as one of the club’s all-time greats, having won nine trophies with the club after signing from Roma in 2017.
Liverpool were quick to show interest in Yan Diomande in their bid to make a strong start to the summer transfer window.
However, they walked away from a move for the 19-year-old as he prefers to join Paris Saint-Germain from RB Leipzig.
PSG star Bradley Barcola has also emerged as a target at Anfield amid a strong showing for France at the World Cup.
But a move for the winger could rest on the future of Diomande and his dream move to Paris.
“Unless PSG can get a deal done for Diomande, they don’t want to let Barcola go,” talkSPORT’s chief football correspondent Alex Crook said.
“That’s a blow for Liverpool, who are looking for reinforcements out wide following the summer departure of Mohamed Salah. It would take a bid well in excess of £120m to land Barcola.
“He’s continuing to stall on signing a new contract, so maybe that just keeps the door to Anfield partly ajar.”
