Tyson Fury has confirmed he will be back for a warm-up fight before facing Anthony Joshua.
The ‘Gypsy King’ was announced to have signed for a huge showdown with bitter rival Joshua later this year.
But it was confirmed his rival will first take on Kristian Prenga in a warm-up fight in July.
Fury is expected to then face Joshua in October or November, with a date to be confirmed once the warm-up bout is over.
But the Morecambe native has now decided he wants his own run-out, to maintain his activity after beating Arslanbek Makhmudov in April.
He has revealed in a fresh interview that the bout will likely be in August, but has warned it could spell disaster.
Fury explained: “So my fight plan this year with three fights. So it will be April, August, and whenever the big fights announced either October, November.
“We haven’t got an opponent yet. But again, it’s never about the opponent.
“It’s just about me versus me always. “So, whoever the opponent is, if it’s Joe Blogs or if it’s Mike Tyson, it’s all important to me.
“It’s just the run out for me. Like, just to get sharper for the big one.
“Listen, I might get knocked out my next fight in August. So then it’s all over it. So I got to take one fight at a time, and they’re all deadly serious fights.”
Who could Fury face as a warm-up opponent?
For Joshua, his warm-up opponent is an unbeaten fighter, but is considered limited opposition given he is far away from the top 20 of the world rankings.
Fury will take his own risk, but is currently unclear what calibre of opposition he will choose.
It could well be a backwards step from the level of Makhmudov, who gave Fury a resillient test at times.
Andy Ruiz Jr has suggested he’d be open to facing the Briton, but could be too much of a risk at this late stage.
Dave Allen, who lost to Filip Hrgovic recently, also suggested he’d accept a run-out clash with Fury.
In an update on Fury’s return, promoter Frank Warren added: “He will fight, he wants to fight — he’s made that very clear.
“He doesn’t want to be back in the ring by November, which I think will be a gap of about seven or eight months.
