Tuesday horse racing tips
Punchestown
- 3.40: Khrisma 6/1 & Karbau 11/1 each-way (1pt each)
- 4.15: Sober 6/1 each-way (1pt)
- 4.50: Kitzbuhel 6/4 (NAP – 2pts)
Khrisma & Karbau
I think Khrisma is incredibly well weighted still having boosted form from beating Charisma Cat two starts ago.
She pulled up when making a mistake two out last time but ought to be in the conversation again, especially carrying 10lb less than Murcia.
But with 21 runners there’s definitely a chance for some surprises – Karbau is the top-rated of the field and trainer Willie Mullins has so many he’s decided to give 7lb claimer Anna McGuinness the mount on this top gelding.
Karbau is still only six-years-old and was disappointing at Fairyhouse last time out with something clearly amiss that day after such a solid sixth place finish at Cheltenham in the County Hurdle.
Murcia has weakened out of contention in all of her last five starts giving Khrisma the chance to really make the most of that weight advantage.
Karbau will be carrying a stone more but is an attractive price given his previous attempts and now with a 7lb claimer on board.
Sober
Won two out of three hurdles including an impressive win on tough ground at Punchestown in January.
Didn’t seem to appreciate the step up to 2m5f at Cheltenham Festival in the Turners Novices’ Hurdle and dropping back down to 2m at this huge each-way price for a Mullins and Paul Townend punt, is very attractive value wise and for the clear progression on the cards.
Kitzbuhel
This six-year-old grey won here in November before winning at Kempton on Boxing Day proving he has the stamina.
Further confirmed his ability when winning ahead of Final Demand in the Brown Advisory and comes here the clear favourite after such a dominant display in his career this season over fences.
Clear favourite for a reason and looks solid for another Mullins and Townend display.
