Lingfield, Wolverhampton and Ripon are the venues for today’s Flat action – live on Sky Sports Racing.

3.15 Lingfield – 600,000gns yearling Apulia Bay debuts

Apulia Bay – the 600,000gns son of Too Darn Hot for Simon and Ed Crisford – jumps off the racecard this afternoon as he makes his racecourse debut in the Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Novice Stakes.

This intriguing colt is a half-brother to Nightime Dancer, who is trained by Richard Hannon. Rated 100 and Group 3 placed, the gelding sets a decent standard for his younger brother to build on.

Romanza sets the standard on form for the already-raced runners, having finished seventh in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot last time out. He was beaten by just under five lengths that day but should fare better in calmer waters. Victory Gold had the better of Charlie Fellowes’ charge earlier in the campaign and reopposes today, with Oisin Murphy booked to ride the Godolphin contender.

Cloud Summit ran a promising fourth on debut and could progress, while Thunder Home will be looking to reverse the form with Victory Gold and Romanza.

6.30 Wolverhampton – Previous winners The Fixer and South Shore lock horns

Our opening Free Tips On attheraces.com Handicap sees two previous winners The Fixer and South Shore lock horns.

Scott Dixon’s The Fixer returns here after winning over course and distance towards the end of June, earning an expected 5lb rise in the weights. He has the benefit of not carrying that today so is effectively 5lb well in. This gelding has some decent two-year-old form for a horse in this grade, having run in the Norfolk three years ago as well as featuring in various Group races in France. Since switching to Scott Dixon’s from Francis-Henri Graffard he has tumbled down the weights, with the win at Wolverhampton his first since the move back in July 2024.

Like The Fixer, South Shore comes here with the impending 5lb rise for a win at Windsor last time out. That success was his first since his stable debut at Wetherby for Robert Cowell and the switch from Ruth Carr’s seems to have had the desired effect.

Richard Hughes has enjoyed a good season to date and saddles Winemaker – who makes his first start for the yard. Jack Callan takes the 3lbs off She’s A Gift, who will look to get off the mark at the eighteenth time of asking.

7.40 Ripon – Goyard heads field of nine in feature

Ripon’s feature Mark’s Choice, Ripon’s Most-Winning Horse Handicap sees Goyard take on nine rivals – including Mark’s Choice himself.

David O’Meara’s Goyard is lightly-raced and has notched two victories from six starts in his career thus far. After looking like a real talent, his last three runs have levelled him out and he finds himself dropped to a rating of 82. A return to Ripon could see him get back on track.

The legend Mark’s Choice is the winning-most horse at Ripon and has rightly been awarded a race in his name at his beloved Garden Racecourse after scoring here 10 times. His win here in September saw him hiked up to a rating of 75 and since then he has trickled back down the weights with three below-par efforts. Given the race name, Gemma Tutty is sure to have him primed to win this.

Reigning Profit looks a danger off a mark of 77 whilst Kodiac Thriller looks to rediscover his mojo after two lesser efforts for Mark Walford.
