The best golfers in the world are heading to North Berwick this week to tune up for the final Major of the year by trying to win the Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club.
World number one Scottie Scheffler, who will defend his Claret Jug at Royal Birkdale next week, heads into battle looking for his first victory since January, while Rory McIlroy will be hoping to repeat the success he enjoyed in 2023.

Scottish Open Tips
Hatton loves a links examination
While Scheffler and McIlroy will enjoy most of the attention with the Open Championship on the horizon, Tyrrell Hatton looks poised to make a big impression a week before the final Major of 2026.
The LIV player loves to get into the mix in the biggest tournaments and is a proven performer on just the sort of track he faces this week, having won the Dunhill Links Championship three times and finished runner-up twice.
He was sixth on his last appearance and has three other top-25 finishes in this tournament, so he is worthy of consideration as the High Wycombe swinger arrives in tip-top form.
Hatton was third at the Masters, fifth at the LIV gathering in Mexico and then won one of the breakaway circuit’s most high-profile tournaments at the tough Valderrama Golf Club.
He was also seventh at the US Open and should be relied upon to put in a bold bid for glory this week.
MacIntyre is the darling of home crowd
Robert MacIntyre loves the Renaissance, having finished runner-up to McIlroy three years ago before bouncing back to win 12 months later. So expect him to be right in the mix.
After a strong start to the year, he had a wobble in the spring, but good recent performances have included 15th at the Canadian Open and 10th at the Travelers Championship, when he closed with a 65.
MacIntyre will not be short of support playing in front of his home fans and the improved quality of his recent approach play points to him being a factor on a track he adores.
Kim could force his way into contention
Those looking for some decent value further down the list may wish to take a look at South Korea’s Tim Kim.
He announced himself in the elite game when he was third here behind Xander Schauffele in 2022, and he followed that performance by being sixth a year later, 15th in 2024 and 17th last year when Chris Gotterup triumphed.
This is clearly an examination he enjoys and while he had a disappointing time at last week’s John Deere Classic, that is a totally different test to this one and he can build upon the third spot he claimed at last month’s US Open.
