The Renaissance Club is the centre-piece of Scotland’s East Lothian golf coast and has been the permanent home of the Scottish Open since 2019.

Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele and Robert MacIntyre are among the players to win at Renaissance in recent years and defending Open champion Scottie Scheffler will be eyeing the Scottish title this week.

The Renaissance Club is located between the world-famous Muirfield and North Berwick golf clubs and is of major quality itself.

First opened in 2008, it may not have the history of other Open venues but is a firm favourite on tour.

The course will play to a par 70 this week with a new maximum yardage of 7,282 yards.

And the players will have to adapt to Renaissance being re-routed for the first time this year.

The change has been made in the hope of ‘creating a more compelling closing stretch for both players and spectators’.

That has seen the two nines flipped with only a handful of holes keeping their original place in the routing.
