Ollie Robinson’s wife broke down in tears after his stunning comeback to the England Test team.
The fast bowler’s return saw him take five wickets as England bowled New Zealand out for 113 on day two of the first Test at Lord’s.
Robinson hadn’t featured in a Test for his country since 2024 after being cut from the side with question marks over his fitness and attitude.
But after The Ashes debacle and following a stellar start to the County Championship for Sussex, Robinson was brought back in from the cold.

She posted a picture of herself crying on Instagram with the caption: “Not cute of me, but watching Ollie and his cricket today had me weeping.
“So, so happy and proud.”
It marked a total turnaround for Robinson, who had been left in the cold for a while and admitted in an interview after day one at Lord’s that he thought his England career was over.
He said: “At Christmas time I thought I was never playing for England again. I was nowhere near ready to play or anywhere near where I am now as a person, as a cricketer.
“It’s only been the last few months that I’ve got the enjoyment back for the game and knuckled down a bit more.
“I went to Australia and got the love of the game back. I’ve put in a lot of work over the last couple of months to get back to the bowler I want to be.
“I’m not the finished article by any means, but those [moments] definitely make it all worthwhile.”
Robinson ended the first innings with figures of 39-5, including one outrageous over.
The England star claimed three wickets in one over, removing Devon Conway, Kane Williamson and Rachin Ravindra.
He ruthlessly exploited favourable bowling conditions to bring England right back into the contest as 16 wickets fell on day one.
For Robinson, it was just a feeling of euphoria after a stunning return.
He said: “There was a point where I couldn’t really hear it.
“I was just on cloud nine, I suppose. My legs were numb and I couldn’t hear anything and I was trying to calm myself down and focus on the moment, but I think after the second wicket that’s probably the loudest [noise] I’ve ever heard on a cricket field.
“Just an incredible day of Test match cricket, and an incredible feeling to be out there and do it for the team.”
