Woods on Bristow exchange
Woods has revealed the pair crossed paths outside a hotel near Ally Pally shortly after she had split up with an ex-boyfriend.
Bristow’s reaction to the news saw him offer to break his legs, the former talkSPORT host explained.
Speaking to the Double Tops podcast, Woods recalled: “When I was doing darts, it was always the old boys that were doing well.
“You know, like Bristow wasn’t playing when I knew Bristow, but God, I love Eric Bristow. Can I add him to the list of things that I miss?
“We were having a cigarette outside that awful hotel next to Ally Pally. And he was like, ‘You alright, love?’
“And I was like, ‘Yeah, fine.’ He was like, ‘Broken up with your fella, haven’t you?’
“And I was like, ‘Yeah, I have actually.’ He was like, ‘Do you want me to break his legs?’
“And I was like, ‘He’s actually a really nice guy, so don’t worry about it.’”
Bristow became beloved by fans during his career as one of darts’ greatest pioneers.
Having retired from competitive action in 2007, the former world No.1 moved into broadcasting.
He subsequently worked as a pundit and commentator for Sky Sports.
Bristow sadly passed away aged 60 in 2018.
