Denzel Boston might just be the best player on the board when the NFL Draft resumes.
The imposing Washington receiver was tipped by many to sneak into the end of the first round.
The Kansas City Chiefs went for a defensive tackle with Aaron Donald-esque ability instead, while the Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers both traded back into the second.
That left Boston, who has been likened to Michael Pittman Jr. and Mike Evans as a big-bodied WR without blazing speed, needing a team.
Carnell Tate, Jordyn Tyson, Makai Lemon, KC Concepcion and Omar Cooper Jr. are all off the board, leaving teams to fight over a diminishing pool on Friday.
San Francisco (33), Buffalo (35), Las Vegas (36), the New York Giants (37), and Kansas City (40) all have early selections and a need at WR, so Boston shouldn’t have to wait long to hear his name called.
In his second round mock for The Athletic, Nick Baumgardner predicted that it would be the Chiefs who came calling.
“This would be an absolute steal. Boston was good enough to go in the first round — he’s a big receiver who moves like a small one,” he wrote.
The former Huskies star is 6ft 4in and 212 lbs, but opted not to run at 40 in the Combine which may have hurt his stock.
“Two-year starter with elite ball skills that should supersede athletic/speed limitations,” wrote NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein. “A Puka Nacua comparison might feel strong, but like Nacua, Boston enters the draft with speed/separation concerns and outstanding competitive toughness.
“Boston gets off the line with good burst and maintains his top speed throughout the route. He could have issues beating press, but releases can also be schemed. He’s very skilled when it comes to winning jump balls and contested throws.
“Boston also knows how to win in the red zone. Acclimating to NFL competition could take a year, but Boston has the makeup to become a productive possession target with above-average red-zone value.”
While many players are happy just to reach the league, Boston already has his next career in mind.
“I’d love to be an FBI agent. I’d love to go on missions, secret missions, where I can’t even talk about it,” the three-star recruit told 247 Sports after joining Washington.
Charles Tillman’s FBI career
There is an NFL precedent as Charles Tillman joined the bureau after his own career.
Tillman led the NFL with 10 forced fumbles in 2012. The league circulated a memo ten years later confirming the ‘Peanut Punch’ as a football concept in a memo to GMs and head coaches.
He retired with $50 million in career earnings and a Walter Payton Man of the Year award from 2013 thanks to his work in the community.
His dad Donald’s service as a sergeant in the US Army inspired his next move as he enrolled in the FBI’s 20-week training academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Chicago rapper Lil Reese was stunned to find the former defensive star involved in a raid on his home in 2018.
“I was tapping my homie, ‘Ain’t this the football player?’ Lil Reese told VladTV.
“And then I said, ‘What’s up, aren’t you Charles Tillman?’ And he was like, ‘What’s up?'”
Lil Reese later revealed that the charges against him were dropped
Tillman quit his law enforcement job in 2025.
“The FBI was great to me. I did awesome. I worked with an amazing group of individuals,” he told The Pivot podcast.
“I think some of the things that they’re doing now, I personally didn’t agree with. I didn’t agree with how the administration came in and tried to make individuals do things… it just didn’t sit right.
“Everybody was told, you’re going to go after the most dangerous criminals, but what you see on TV and what actually was happening was people weren’t going after that.
“And that didn’t sit right with me. That didn’t sit right with my conscience. At the end of the day, I want to be on the right side of history when it’s all said and done.
“Do I think there are individuals in the organization, do they like doing some of the stuff that they’re doing? Absolutely not. I think they hate it.
“I was in a different position because of my previous career. I made enough money to where I could just walk away and say, ‘You know what, guys? I’m OK. I think I’m good.
“My first eight years, I’ve been solid. We were doing some good things. Some of the stuff that you’re doing now, I don’t necessarily agree with. And that’s not in Chicago, that comes from Washington.”
