Arthur Fery has revealed a secret nose operation during Wimbledon has helped aid his fairy tale run to the semi-finals.
The British star is gearing up to face French Open champion Alexander Zverev on Centre Court on Friday for a place in Sunday’s final.
Fery sealed his place in the semi-finals by beating ninth seed and Roland Garros finalist Flavio Cobolli in straight sets on Wednesday.
In doing so, the 23-year-old has become the first ever male British wildcard to reach the last four at the All England Club.
And he is just the second wildcard across all nationalities to do so in the modern era – 25 years after eventual champion Goran Ivanisevic of Croatia did so in 2001.
Fery has banked a whopping ÂŁ900,000 from his run in SW19 so far as he eyes up a potential final against Jannik Sinner or Novak Djokovic.
Heading into the grass court tournament ranked 114th in the world, Fery came back from behind to win in each of his first, second, third and fourth round matches.
His third and fourth round wins over Zizou Bergs and Grigor Dimitrov saw him come through in five-set thrillers.
Fery suffered three stress-induced nosebleeds during his epic battle against Bergs on Court 18, while also having one during his first round win over Damir Dzumhur and second round victory against Otto Virtanen.

But Fery had no issues with nosebleeds during his wins over Dimitrov and Cobolli.
The France-born player has now declared that he went under the knife prior to his meeting with Dimitrov after seeking urgent medical help.
Speaking of the minor operation, he said: “I had a little procedure a few days ago here on it, and that seemed to help.
“Just getting the blood vessels cauterised in the nose.
“A small thing. Nothing major. It seemed to have helped. It didn’t hurt.
“I’ve also tried to avoid wiping with a towel straight on the nose.
“I think that was also kind of not helping.
“So just a combination of things, just a bit of luck as well.”
Fery is now just two matches away from becoming the first Englishman since Fred Perry 90 years ago in 1936 to win Wimbledon.
It could be a weekend to remember for British fans with England to face Norway on Saturday for a place in the World Cup semi-finals.
Fery, who turns 24 on Sunday, remarked: “It’s going to be a great weekend.
“Everyone’s been getting on the beers already – I don’t think I need to push them to do that.
“It’s great to see British sport doing so well., obviously the England team had a great win against Mexico [in the last-16].
“I’m sure they’re going to do well against Norway, so yeah, let’s just keep it going.”
