Brooks Koepka is coming into form ahead of the 2026 US Open but has surprised some by withdrawing from the upcoming Charles Schwab Challenge.

Following his exit from LIV Golf, Koepka is still not permitted to play in the PGA Tour’s Signature Events and has instead been competing in the tier 2 tournaments since his return.

He needs to qualify for the elevated events and has been showing better form in recent weeks.

He was T11 in the Myrtle Beach Classic earlier this month and T14 at The CJ CUP Byron Nelson over the weekend.

Koepka impressed in both weeks and has showed signs that his former dominant best is slowly returning.

However, the 36-year-old has decided to take a couple of weeks off in the lead up to the US Open next month.

He was listed in the field for the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club in Dallas this week.

But the five-time major champion has elected to pull out.

There has not been a reason given for his withdrawal as of yet but it is likely a matter of managing his workload given his history of hip and knee issues.

Next week will see the next Signature Event held at The Memorial at Muirfield Village Golf Club, an event Koepka can’t qualify for.
