Arch Manning finished the 2025 season on fire and will look to lock up the No. 1 pick after returning to Texas.
The Longhorns star is expected to enter the 2027 NFL Draft and continue his family’s long history in the league.
He will have plenty of competition in one of the best quarterback classes in years, and there are many who think Manning has a lot to prove.
Among them is Jordan Rodgers, who didn’t quite reach the same heights of his future Hall of Famer brother Aaron, but still knows a thing or two about slinging the rock.
“No, I don’t,” he said during an appearance on ESPN’s Get Up. “I was the one, maybe the only one last year preseason saying, ‘Let’s pump the brakes a little bit. We haven’t seen this guy play yet.’”
Manning completed 61.4 percent of his pass attempts for 3,163 yards, 26 touchdowns, and seven interceptions and is also far more dangerous as a runner than his uncles Eli and Peyton.
“Now, he did play really well down the stretch, 7-1 down the stretch, 20 touchdowns, just two interceptions,” Rodgers added. “Arch was the best quarterback at the end of the regular season.”
Manning goes into the season as second favorite for the Heisman behind Notre Dame’s CJ Carr, but Rodgers thinks neither is the best in the country right now.
“The best quarterback in the College Football Playoff, and the best quarterback going into this season, in my opinion, is Trinidad Chambliss,” he said. “What he did in that Playoff, he was the best player.
“Three hundred sixty-two yards against Georgia, almost single-handedly beat Miami to advance to the national championship.”
Manning has massive potential, and crucially, room for improvement.
“There are still some mechanical issues that I think he has to improve upon,” Rodgers explained. “He got so much better at the end of the year.
“He was more consistent with his feet, but when his feet are elongated or not in the right place, his velocity dips, the spiral is a little wobbly, and he misses at times.
“I expect Arch to take another big step. I expect him to be in New York at the Heisman Trophy ceremony.
“He’s going to be really good, but I still think some of those mechanical issues, I want to see those cleaned up to project him to be a top 10 or a first-round draft pick next year.”

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian thinks Manning may end up returning in 2027.
“We haven’t had the discussion, but I will tell you, I would not be surprised,” he told Kay Adams on the Up & Adams show.
“I think Arch really loves college football, I really do. I think he loves the University of Texas.
“He does pretty good through NIL, you know, he’s got some pretty good endorsements going right now, which is a credit to him and obviously the lineage of the last name and the brand of the University of Texas, all of those things coming together.
“On the same token, I won’t be surprised if he declares and decides to go into the draft.”
Sarkisian thinks Manning’s early struggles have set him up to dominate.
“Probably unfair expectations of him, his first start, his first year starting, on the road at Ohio State, that he was just going to be that way from the very beginning. It takes time,” he said.
“But he found that, and he found that inside of him, and I can tell you that it was a great motivator for his teammates and for our staff to know that’s the guy leading us into this season.”
With Dante Moore, CJ Bailey, Jayden Maiava, Darian Mensah, Julian Sayin, LaNorris Sellers, and Drew Mestemaker playing college ball next season — not to mention the banned Brendan Sorsby — NFL quarterbacks had better watch their backs.
