Ian Wright shared an emotional moment with his son, Bradley Wright-Phillips, on Saturday evening as they reunited.
The Arsenal and England legend had not seen Wright-Phillips in over a year, but they were working together at the World Cup.
The pair were both part of ITV’s punditry team previewing Switzerland’s 1-1 draw with Qatar from their Brooklyn studio.
Wright-Phillips was sitting in their secondary broadcasting area, alongside his dad, who was in the main setup inside.
But the hosts made sure to allow Wright to walk over to greet his son, creating a great moment between the family members.
Wright Sr. walked over to see Wright-Phillips, with them hugging and the former saying: “Look at you son, I love you bro.”
Legendary MLS striker, Wright-Phillips, then said: “I haven’t seen you in a year and a half and this is where we meet, it’s not bad.”
His dad added: “I’m so pleased for him, I’m so pleased to be here. It’s just brilliant to see him after everything that happened to him in England and how he managed to get here [in the US].
“For him to get to where he’s got to, the pride, even just to hear him speak so wonderfully there…”
They then went on to reminisce on Wright-Phillips’ footballing journey, which ended with him starring in the US.
Wright-Phillips added: “He spoke about the journey and I remember the first time I got on a plane…we came to Brooklyn.
“I picked up a shirt, it was MetroStars, which is now New York Red Bulls, and that was in 1999…what number was I? No.99.”
Wright-Phillips’ success in the States
Wright-Phillips has now retired from football, but he spent the last nine years of his career playing in the United States.
After starting his career at Manchester City and coming through the ranks, he played for Southampton, Plymouth, Charlton and Brentford in England.
But following his release from Charlton in 2013, he made the move to the MLS, signing for the New York Red Bulls.
The striker would go on to score 126 goals in 240 appearances for the Red Bulls, going down in history.
He is their all-time top goalscorer with his tally, sitting with more than double the goals of second place in the list.
And in the MLS, he’s still the seventh-highest scorer ever.
After six years with New York Red Bulls, Wright-Phillips would go on to play for Los Angeles FC and Columbus Crew.
Due to his time in the US, it’s clear that he hasn’t been able to see his dad much in recent years.
So, it was a heartwarming moment for the pair to get together again on TV screens at the World Cup.
