Lewis Hamilton said it was “amazing” to have Kim Kardashian’s support at the Monaco Grand Prix as his Ferrari resurgence continued with another second-place finish.
Hamilton moved ahead of George Russell into second place in the Drivers’ Championship – his highest position since 2021 – by finishing second on Sunday in the Principality to a dominant Kimi Antonelli, who leads the standings by 66 points.
Hamilton was supported by Kardashian in the Monaco paddock on Saturday and Sunday, who was attending her first race since the pair started dating at the start of this year.
“It’s amazing to have her come this weekend and have the support,” said Hamilton.
“But, you know, with my friends, incredible turnout, just overall, the people.
“It’s amazing to have good people around you and good people supporting you and she does that for me every day.”
‘Reigniting the belief they had in me when I joined’ – Hamilton thrilled to be delivering for Ferrari
While the impressive Antonelli proved to be a league of his own up front to maintain Mercedes’ unbeaten start to the season, Hamilton had driven strongly in second place to lead team-mate Charles Leclerc before the sister Ferrari crashed with 13 laps to go.
Hamilton’s one piece of good fortune in the race had come several laps earlier when, making a second pit stop under a Safety Car triggered by Lance Stroll’s crash, he was able to serve a five-second penalty for pit-lane speeding infringement collected at his first stop without the threat of losing a place to Leclerc, who was queuing behind him as team double-stacked their cars.
After no podium finishes in his first 24 races for Ferrari last year amid a turbulent first season in red after his move from Mercedes, Hamilton now has three from six starts in 2026 and leads Leclerc in both their qualifying and race head-to-heads.
He told Sky Sports F1: “Very, very thankful to my team because coming from such a horrendous year last year finally in the position where I’m reigniting the passion and belief that they had in me when I first joined.
“After a really big slump that we had last year, to come back up is great to see the fight in them. They are doing a fantastic job. We have a lot of work to do to close that gap.”
Hamilton also reserved special praise for the in-form Antonelli, his successor at Mercedes, who has now won five races in a row and on Sunday became the youngest-ever winner of the prestigious Monaco race aged 19.
“Kimi was amazing today. He has been amazing all weekend,” said Hamilton.
“Mercedes are clearly a bit ahead of everybody for quite some time and we couldn’t match them. He did a phenomenal job and I’m so grateful that I get to witness him in his moment – and this is his moment.
“So I’m really grateful that I could just be up there and get to share it and see that.”
