United are one club interested in a new left-back who can be a reinforcement for Luke Shaw, and are looking for a long-term replacement as he is set to turn 31 years old.
The former England international has battled with injuries during his stint at Old Trafford, however, this season he has looked strong and started every Premier League game.
However, the Newcastle defender has become an established Premier League defender at only 21 and was unlucky to miss out on England selection.
The north east outfit are reluctant to sell the youngster, who signed from Chelsea in 2024, after a loan move for £28million, especially after Anthony Gordon left for Barcelona and Sandro Tonali currently pushing for an exit.

Fernandes only signed from Southampton in a £42m deal last summer, with the Hammers hoping to double their original investment for the playmaker, mindful that they owe 15 per cent to his previous club.
However, Man Utd are not the only club interested in the 21-year-old, who impressed individually in the 2025/26 campaign, scoring five goals and providing five assists.
Champions Arsenal hold interest in the young star, as well as back-to-back European winners Paris Saint-Germain, with both clubs seeing him suited to a more central role.
