Atletico Madrid have posted THREE ruthless tweets regarding Barcelona’s rejected offer for Julian Alvarez.
talkSPORT understands the Spanish giants have turned down an offer from the LaLiga champions worth £86million for Alvarez.
Atletico are looking for more than the £104m they received for selling Antoine Griezmann to Barca in 2019.
And in response to Barca’s low offer, Diego Simeone’s side have used social media to troll their rivals.
They have posted three tweets indirectly mocking Barcelona’s Alvarez bid.
The first one is a reported transfer for Lamine Yamal from the Nou Camp to the Wanda Metropolitano.
It contains a picture of Yamal in an Atletico Madrid top along with the caption: “HERE WE GO! We have sent a fax to @FCBarcelona_es with our transfer offer: 4 tickets for tomorrow’s Bad Bunny concert, an annual subscription to ABC, and a bag of sunflower seeds.
“We eagerly await the response to prepare the ‘announce’.”
And that was immediately followed up with another focusing on Pedri.
It was accompanied with these words: “HERE WE GO! For this second offer we’ve had a problem, we’ve run out of tickets for tomorrow’s concert, so we improve the previous proposal with 6 for the one on Sunday.”
And the third one featured Raphinha, which read: “HERE WE GO! And to complete the 3×1, we’ve gotten all carried away and we’re going to throw the little house out the window: the player arrives on loan for a season and in exchange we loan out Tom Ford and Smith with no option to buy. An offer impossible to refuse.”
Bad blood
Clearly, Atletico Madrid haven’t taken too kindly to the Alvarez offer on the table.
The Catalan giants have already spoken to the Argentine’s agents, and he is keen on the deal.
Reports suggest that personal terms won’t be a problem for Barcelona to agree.
They are looking to strike a quick deal before other clubs can react, with Arsenal one of several sides who are big admirers of Alvarez.
The former Manchester City man actually helped dump Barcelona out of the Champions League earlier this season with a stunning free-kick at the Nou Camp.
But he is the club’s top target to replace Robert Lewandowski, who is leaving on a free after a successful stint with Barcelona.
Are they back?
The early signs this summer suggest that after years of being restrained in the transfer market due to financial issues, Barcelona are back.
They are poised to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United in a deal that moved rapidly.
Bayern Munich were leading the chase for the England international but were struggled to agree a fee with the Toon.
Hansi Flick’s side swooped in and offered £70m plus add-ons that could take the deal towards £80m along with a healthy sell-on clause.
The winger has completed a medical and agreed terms on a five-year deal and will be unveiled soon.
And they aren’t done there.
The Times are reporting that Bernardo Silva wants to join Barca after leaving Manchester City.
The Portuguese international has long been linked with a move to the Nou Camp, and it could finally happen this summer.
His contract at the Etihad is up, and he’s leaving the club a legend.
There is also a player from the other side of Manchester that Barcelona could still sign.
Marcus Rashford spent the season on loan with Flick’s side and impressed with 14 goals and 14 assists across all competitions.
Barcelona have an option to buy him for £26m from Manchester United.
But talkSPORT understands they want another loan deal instead, so that one could drag on.
But it is clear they mean business.
