Jonny Clayton fumed at a spectator that heckled him at a critical moment of his Premier League Finals Night defeat to Luke Humphries.
The Welshman threatened to pull off a stunning comeback triumph over the reigning Premier League champion, only to fall to a nail-biting 10-9 defeat.
However, Clayton had a golden opportunity to win the match himself with a double 16, as he narrowly missed the target.
Humphries then took advantage as he checked out 25 with a nine and double eight to reach the final.
As the players shook hands at the end of the match, Clayton cut a miffed figure on the oche having been heckled by an individual when throwing for that match-winning double 16.
The 51-year-old then issued a crude waving gesture with his hand in the direction of where the individual was in the crowd before trudging off the oche.
Clayton pockets £110,000 for making it to the semis of Finals Night, but that missed dart has denied him at least another £60,000.
The runner-up takes home £170,000, while the winner obtains £350,000.
There was increased security presence in the area to the left of the oche after the heckling took place with more whistling heard in the final.
However, the culprit has not been identified yet.
The incident is sadly not an isolated one with an unruly fan being ejected for disrupting Stephen Bunting’s clash against Gerwyn Price in Sheffield last week.
Meanwhile, referee Huw Ware was forced to stop Price’s European Grand Prix of Darts match against Dave Chisnall in April to instruct the crowd to stop whistling.
Luke beats Luke
Humphries met Luke Littler again in what was a rematch of the 2024 and 2025 finals.
Like Humphries, Littler was also made to sweat in his semi-final at London’s O2 Arena.
Littler edged past Gerwyn Price 10-9 with the Welshman coming back from 9-4 down to take the match to a deciding leg.
The World No.1 also seemingly encountered issues with spectators in the same area from where Clayton was heckled having animatedly celebrated going 6-4 up at the interval.
The final also went down to the wire as Littler prevailed with a narrow 11-10 win.
The 19-year-old cut an emotional figure after receiving the trophy for a second time, revealing in his post-match interview that he considered quitting darts due to hostility he’d previously received from spectators.
