Review: 4.5/5
I found the new Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro to be a highly capable, accessible smartwatch that truly impresses.
Straight out of the box, its durability shone. It survived an accidental five-foot drop onto laminate flooring, and the robust 1.92-inch sapphire glass display remained perfectly intact.
Once turned on, the screen is dazzling, delivering a crisp 3,000 nits of peak brightness.
Set-up was a breeze, with a simple interface offering core metrics like active calories, steps, time spent standing, and even specialist metrics such as SpO2, stress, and skin temperature.
When it comes to performance, the watch excels in outdoor tracking.
Thanks to its multi-system, dual-band GNSS, distance and real-time heart rate tracking during runs and walks proved highly accurate.
My Oura Ring 4 remains vastly superior for sleep tracking, where the Huawei showed noticeable discrepancies in deep and REM sleep data.
Another positive is that the battery life is exceptional, offering up to 10 days on a single charge.
And while the strap certainly left a little to be desired, I was happy to find it remained secure throughout all my workouts.
Packed with countless workout modes, the Watch Fit 5 Pro is a fantastic fitness companion.

Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro: full review
First impressions
With the list of smartwatches I’ve tried in the past now as long as my arm, I’m well-equipped to tell you the differences between a good and a great device.
Enter the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro, the tech giant’s latest foray into accessible fitness and wellbeing technology.
Arriving alongside the regular Watch Fit 5, the Fit 5 Pro offers a sapphire glass display, advanced tracking, built-in GPS, and a number of other impressive features.
Straight out of the box, I wasted no time testing the durability of this device after it landed face down on my laminate flooring from about five feet.
Despite fearing the worst, I was very impressed (and relieved) to discover that the 1.92-inch sapphire glass display had held its own.
Impromptu shock test over, I was immediately dazzled by the brightness and clarity of the screen once I’d turned the device on.
Delivering up to 3,000 nits peak brightness, the display was sharp and crisp, with a responsiveness that felt akin to some of the more premium Apple models on the market.
I felt as if the strap left quite a lot to be desired in terms of feel and appearance, but I’m happy to say it didn’t come loose once during my testing.

Set-up and interface
Like many Huawei devices, set-up on the Watch Fit 5 Pro was a breeze, taking no longer than a few seconds once the app had downloaded.
The interface on the watch is incredibly simple and effective too, perfect for users like myself who prefer less ‘fluff’ and more accessible core metrics when it comes to their devices.
Within the watch, there are breathing exercises, skin temperature scans, stress levels, sleep data, and SpO2 measuring, each of which can be activated at the press of a button.
There are a few rather annoying ‘consent’ hoops to jump through first, but I was relieved to discover I’d only have to do this once for each feature.
Activity records, including the standardised Move, Exercise, and Stand metrics, are readily available on both the watch and the app, making it simple to keep track of your daily goals.

Tracking and performance
So, the Watch Fit 5 Pro certainly looks and feels the part, but how does it stack up on the performance side of things?
Over a week of testing, I put the watch through its paces in the gym, on runs, on walks, and even while I was sleeping to see how the data measured up against what I’m used to with my Oura Ring 4.
The watch’s first test was a simple hilly walk during my lunch break; to test how accurate it was compared to my daily wearable (the Oura Ring), I activated both to record a workout in quick succession.
By the end of the workout, the results were quite similar; however, there were some discrepancies in the distance covered.
Without getting too bogged down in the science, the Watch Fit 5 Pro features multi-system, dual-band GNSS, meaning it is likely to be far more accurate than the Oura for distance tracking.
With this improved accuracy in mind, alongside the fact that the Watch Fit 5 Pro tracks my heart rate in real time, I continued to enjoy my gym sessions and outdoor runs with confidence in the data.
In terms of sleep data, I was a little bit disappointed in the Watch Fit 5 Pro.
When comparing a night’s metrics against the Oura Ring 4, there were noticeable discrepancies in deep sleep, REM sleep, and my overall rest.
Because Oura’s finger-based sensors are inherently better at tracking the subtle shifts of sleep, I’m inclined to trust its baseline over Huawei’s algorithms here.

Battery and other features
The battery on the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro is just as impressive as advertised.
With up to 10 days’ worth of battery on a single charge, the device certainly holds its own when compared to similar competitors on the market.
Of course, that will all depend on your level of brightness, overall usage, GPS tracking, etc., but it nevertheless remains an impressive feature.
Another feature that caught my eye was the sheer number of workout modes to choose from.
With popular key hobbies and interests featured, I can see this being a great way to track progression and fitness over a long-term basis.
There are even mini-workout sessions guided by a virtual panda, and while I can’t see myself ever using them, they might be a great reminder for some to stretch and get moving.
Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro: the verdict
By no means does the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro reinvent the wheel, but for those looking for an undoubtedly solid health and exercise tracker with the battery power to match, I can’t see why you wouldn’t enjoy this device.
Although I wasn’t impressed by the appearance or quality of the strap, nor the quality of the sleep tracking, I felt it was difficult to fault any of the other areas of the device during my testing period.
The fitness tracking and GPS features are really where this watch shines, making it the ideal companion for fitness-heavy lifestyles.
How I tested
To test the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro, it became my go-to fitness tracker for around a week.
During this time, I tested all of the features directly available on the device, including the performance and sleep tracking, GPS and more.
I wore the watch during short runs, walks and sessions inside the weight room to determine just how accurate its performance metrics are, and I even compared it against my usual wearable, the Oura Ring 4.
I then awarded the device a rating out of five to determine if it lives up to the hype.
