Ted Turner, media mogul and philanthropist who created CNN and pioneered cable news, died on Wednesday at the age of 87. The media maverick boasted a stable of networks, including TBS, TNT and Cartoon Network. He also became one of the biggest landowners in the United States and worked to restore the bison population.
