Paddy Pimblett has been called out by Jared Gordon, who wants revenge after his controversial loss.
Pimblett is set to make a comeback to the UFC after being beaten by Justin Gaethje in his maiden defeat since signing with the promotion.
But now the Liverpudlian is set to return at UFC 329 on July 11 on International Fight Week.
His potential opponent is already believed to be pencilled in as lightweight contender Benoit Saint Denis.
The Frenchman is set to provide a real test to the returning Brit.
And should he return to the win column, his former foe Gordon wants to settle the score.
He explained: “Paddy is very popular and he gets pushed, good for him, lucky him.
“Everything happens for a reason and I still think there’s an opportunity for me to fight him again. I know he’s fighting BSD which is a really tough fight for him.
“So I beat Jim [Miller] Saturday, maybe win one more and I’m on a two-fight winning streak while he’s on a two-fight losing streak.
“I don’t think it’s too crazy to think that we could fight again and it would make sense at that point.
“Whatever happens, I have to trust it, but it was written. I do think there’s a really good chance it could happen, I will push for it and I will beat him again.”
Any sequel will be subject to Pimblett progressing beyond Saint Denis.
What happened between Pimblett and Gordon?
But ‘The Baddy’ may well avoid the challenge of Gordon given how much of a challenge the American provided.
Pimblett was given his first real examination against the veteran in 2022.
Gordon believed he had done enough to taste victory, causing real problems for Pimblett.
He didn’t get the decision with the pre-fight favourite getting a controversial victory on the scorecards.
Pimblett admitted in the immediate aftermath that he was fortunate to get his hand raised.
It is clear there is a storyline between the pair, and a sequel would likely carry real needle.
