Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest predictions

Chelsea have gone on a horrid run, so much so that it caused them to sack Liam Rosenior just a few games before the end of the season.

They’ve dropped into eighth position and are looking for their first league win since March 4, when beating Aston Villa 4-1.

Since then they enjoyed a couple of FA Cup wins, but also an 8-2 loss on aggregate to PSG in the Champions League, and plenty of losses in the Premier League to Newcastle, Everton, Man United, Man City, and Brighton.

The latter of which was the nail in the coffin on Rosenior’s managerial stint at Stamford Bridge.

Calum McFarlane helped steer them to the FA Cup final with a 1-0 win over Leeds at Wembley Stadium last week and also have the added benefit of not having played a tricky European game midweek like Forest had to do.

Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest betting tips

Huge game for both sides

Forest themselves will have all the confidence coming into this match against a wounded Chelsea side that haven’t won in so long.

Whereas Forest have been enjoying huge Premier League and Europa League victories.

Forest won 4-1 over Burnley before going one better to notch a surprise and huge 5-0 away win at Sunderland.

They then hosted Villa in the first leg of the semi-finals in the Europa League on Thursday evening and came out 1-0 winners thanks to a Chris Wood penalty.

They have a few days rest before facing Chelsea and then they’re quickly back in action for the second leg on Thursday at Villa Park.

Those are two huge away games just three days apart and so there’s a suspicion there could be some players resting on Monday afternoon or at least coming off early in preparation for focusing on Europe.

However, they are still only five points clear of relegation, so both are vitally important and could put up a huge fight.

As such this looks like it could be a well-fought score draw.

Chelsea are still adjusting, Forest are wanting to keep compact and not allow silly mistakes ahead of their European tie and relegation fight and a point will go a long way – especially the form they are in.

Gamechangers

Chelsea are looking for a route back into the European spots even if it means settling for seventh at this stage to get into the Europa Conference League qualifiers.

They now sit two points behind a Europa League spot and one point behind the Conference qualifiers.

Of course their other option is to win the FA Cup final against Man City in a couple of weeks time.

Morgan Gibbs-White has been on fire for Forest and will no doubt be the player of concern for Chelsea.

On the flip side it’s hard to know who will rise to the challenge for Chelsea with a deep squad that could put out any kind of starting XI with a new manager and new tactics deployed.

Regardless, it could be another game with a couple of goals, a Gibbs-White contribution and plenty of cards for Chelsea, but less so Forest.

Chelsea have picked up 76 yellow cards (ranked 4th) this season while Forest have only been given 55 (ranked 14th).
